Hat Trick For Day As North Atlanta Hands East Coweta Their Second Loss In 16-4 Win


In Boys Lacrosse action on Monday, the North Atlanta Warriors (5-1) and the East Coweta Indians (5-1) went head to head in a region match in which the winner would take sole possession of second place in the region. As the game got underway, the Warriors would strike first as #24 Sr. Zeke Day would shoot and score to give North Atlanta 1-0 lead with 8:09 to go in the first period. East Coweta would not let much time go by before they would answer as #11 would score thirty three seconds later to tie the game at 1-1 with 7:35 remaining in the first period.

After the Indians’ score, the Warriors would go on to score four straight goals before East Coweta would score again as North Atlanta led 5-2 with 1:15 to go in the opening period. The Warriors would strike once more as the first came to a close when #29 Sr. Turner Rowe would score with :03 remaining and the Warriors leading East Coweta 6-2. As the second quarter began, North Atlanta would score with 10:29 remaining in the first half to go up 7-2. After falling behind 8-2, the Indians would score after an illegal body check penalty against the Warriors and #15 would help East Coweta make it an 8-3 game in favor of North Atlanta, however the Warriors hold a 10-3 over the Indians at halftime.

In the second half, the Warriors would continue to dominate the Indians after four goals in the period including Day’s third goal of the game as he completed the hat trick to give North Atlanta a 14-3 lead with 7:11 to go in the third. In the final period of play, East Coweta would score off #15’s goal but North Atlanta would still be up 10 points leading 14-4. With time winding down, back to back goals by North Atlanta’s #19 Sr. Hayden Sumlin would give the Warriors a 16-4 lead as they would go on to win by that final score improving to 6-1 and taking over second place in the region.
