CSK Downs Washington 16-1 to Advance to Region Championship
On Monday, the Coretta Scott King Lady Eagles took their 12-0 record into a region semi-final match-up against the Washington Bulldogs. With senior pitcher, #9 Mikayla Hailey on the mound, the Lady Eagles held Washington scoreless after one inning while taking a 6-0 lead. At the top of the second inning Hailey walked the first two batters but then settled into the inning keeping the Lady Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the second, CSK tacked on five more runs including an inside the park home run by senior #17 Sadie Suggs with no one on base. It was in the top of the third inning when the Lady Bulldogs were able to get on the board with their only run when Hailey's pitch got pass the catcher with bases loaded.
Hailey was once again able to maintain composure to get out of the inning allowing just one run, leading to five more runs by the Lady Eagles as the game was called in the bottom of the third giving CSK the 16-1 victory. The Lady Eagles will face the South Atlanta Lady Hornets on Wednesday in the Class 2A, Region 6 Championship. The Lady Hornets defeated Therrell earlier on Monday by a score of 18-10 to advance to the Class 2A, Region 6 title game.
