On the Wednesday, the North Gwinnett Bulldogs flag football team hosted the Mill Creek Hawks and Sprayberry Yellow Jackets, opening up the night with a 28-0 win over the Hawks, who would also fall to the Yellow Jackets, 13-6, setting up a night cap between the Bulldogs and Sprayberry to see which team would end the night with two wins.
Eventually, that would be North Gwinnett as they would defeat Sprayberry 13-0 after scoring on a interception returned for a touchdown by Presley Steger to take an early 7-0 following the extra point. In the fourth quarter, North Gwinnett would once again get into the end zone thanks to a Mia Sereno pass to Sydney Bowman.
"Defense is everything. If the other team doesn't score, the other team can't win," North Gwinnett head coach, Jeff Carlberg, said follow the Bulldogs two shut out victories on Wednesday, their third and fourth times holding opponents scoreless this season. "Our girls are getting a lot better," Carlberg continued as he credited his players for being able to execute new defensive coverages implemented for Wednesday's matchups.
"I've got a great group of girls. They're very attentive, they're very athletic and they have a great desire to win and they've just been a joy to work with," Carlberg, who is in his first season coaching flag football, said of the Bulldogs.
