The start to the 2025-2026 season for the Lassiter Trojans girls soccer team is nearly a mirror image from just a year ago when they opened up with back to back wins before being handed their first loss to county rival, the Walton Raiders, and then responding with a nine game win streak.

Fast forward to this season, and after a 2-0 start followed by a loss to Walton once again, the Trojans have won four in a row after picking up a win in PKs against the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, improving to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the region standings.

"When you go into extra time, it's a new game right," Lassiter head coach, Robbie Galvin said after the Trojans win, which game following a weather delay and two extra periods of play after the Yellow Jackets tied the match on a Lara DaSilva goal with just under three minutes remaining in regulation, before being decided in PKs.

"Really of my girls responding because we felt like we were in control that entire game," Galvin said of his team's performance despite stoppage time due to the inclement weather and the impact it had on his players.

"We weren't really able to find a whole lot. It kind of messed us up a little bit and getting scored on late with three minutes left to tie it up, that sometimes will really take a team out and I'm proud of my girls responding in overtime," Galvin said, praising he Trojans for their efforts in extra time, in particular, sophomore forward, Ak Portugal, who he placed in goal for the PKs and came up with three saves to help the Trojans pick up the win.

"I said to the girls, hey she's good for two but I didn't give her enough credit, she was good for three," Galvin said of Portugal. Lassiter will return to action next week when they travel to face River Ridge in another region showdown, and the time off will allow the Trojans to have players get healthy.

"We are very banged up. We have girls sitting out and girls got banged up tonight so we have to get healthy. And we have to be a little bit better in front of goal," Galvin said.
