Georgia HS Football Week 8 Predictions - Game of the Week Blessed Trinity vs Calhoun

Blessed Trinity (2-0) vs Calhoun (5-1) – Calhoun comes into this one fresh off a huge 47-27 win over Hiram in their new region. 40 -0 at the half JV guys played most of the time that Hiram scored their points. Quarterback Christian Lewis is coming into his own and really impressing Yellow Jackets head coach Clay Stephenson. On top of a pretty decent air attack game, Calhoun’s Jerrian Hames gives them a threatening ground game that helps open up the passing game. Although coming in 2-0, Blessed Trinity comes into this one not having played since September 25 due to COVID-19’s impact on opponents the Titans were to face. If quarterback JC French and running back Justice Hayes can get the BT offense rolling early on while their defense locks down the Calhoun run game, the Titans can walk away with this victory. However, Calhoun has been rolling averaging 36.5 ppg. Pick: Calhoun

Cherokee (6-0) vs Roswell (5-0) – Whoa baby!! Roswell has an explosive offense led by Robbie Roper and wide receivers Marquis Willis and Michael Fitzgerald. While Roper threw for just over 100 yards in the Hornets last win, he’s thrown for over 300 yards in two of their wins, so the Warriors defense will need to take his primary targets in Willis and Fitzgerald away, two standout wide receivers. However, Cherokee’s defense has proven that they can control their side of the ball only giving up more than 15 points once this year. Roswell’s defense will have their hands full as well trying to contain a running back by the name of Keith Adams Jr. This Adams Jr runs the ball hard and once he gets going, quarterback AJ Swann starts to pick you apart in the air. I think the pressure is on both defenses in this one so I expect a match similar to Cherokee’s with Cartersville and Roswell’s with Walton, close to the end but giving the edge to Roswell. Pick Roswell

East Coweta (5-1) vs Pebblebrook (5-1) – With both teams having a week off, what better way to start off region play. East Coweta will be one of the toughest team Pebblebrook has faced this season and they can expect the Indians defense to come out and make their presence felt immediately. Although he was not a factor in their win over Collins Hill, East Coweta running back Jayden Bolton will be looking to also make his presence felt offensively. Indians quarterback Daniel Shoch also has a few targets in Mason Holmes, Fate Simmons, and Tyrell Fudge so Pebblebrook will need to contain the ground game and force Shoch to make plays in the air. Pebblebrook is led by quarterback Craig Adams Jr. Pick: East Coweta
