As the 2025-2026 Georgia High School Association lacrosse regular season nears its end and teams look to carry momentum into postseason play, the Lassiter Trojans girls lacrosse team appear to have found their stride as they picked up their 10th straight victory on Tuesday after defeating the Woodstock Wolverines.

"The girls have really just stepped up. Especially the girls who at the beginning of the season, were a little bit timid. They've really come out of their shell and blossomed into the dynamic players that In knew they were capable of being," Lassiter head coach, Angela Brunner, said of her players and how well they have been playing after snapping a three game losing streak earlier in the season and overcoming "some injury setbacks.

"We're on the upside of that and we're having more cohesiveness," Brunner continued as she noted the recent time off for the Trojans has allowed the team to become healthy at the right time as the younger players on the team "are stepping in nicely," for the Trojans, who have three more matchups remaining in the regular season, including non-region showdowns with Lambert and Johns Creek.

"I'm excited about those two games because they're really going to give us some good competition going into the playoffs," Brunner said of the getting her team prepared for postseason play as they look to make a run for the program's first state title. "Really excited to see how we stand against two really strong teams compared to where we were at the beginning of the season," Brunner said.

Tuesday's win for the Lassiter was highlighted by a seven goal performance by senior Sophie Hortman, as she set a program record with 217 career goals and her 81st of the season. "She's legit. She's blessed me with many years of great Lacrosse," Brunner said of the James Madison commit, who she has had a chance to watch grow over the years. "You blink and it's like 'wow, only a few more games with few,' and that's a tough pill to swallow," Brunner said of Hortman.

"On top of being exceptional at everything that she does, she's also super kind and a great person and everybody on the team's biggest cheerleader and that's something I think that I'll miss the most about her," Brunner said.
