Locust Grove's Brooke McCubbin Earns Gatorade Georgia Softball Player Of The Year Honors


On Thursday, the Gatorade Company continued their 35th year of honoring the country's top high school student athletes and named Locust Grove pitcher Brooke McCubbin the Gatorade Georgia Softball Player Of The Year. The honor caps off a junior season for McCubbin that saw her help lead Locust Grove to their third consecutive Georgia High School Association Class 5A state championship. On the mound this past season, McCubbin went 23-1 with an ERA of 0.65, striking out 178 batters along the way and only allowing 18 walks through 140 innings pitched. Other honors for McCubbin this season also include the Georgia Coaches Association Class 5A Pitcher of the Year and Georgia Dugout Club Player of the Year. McCubbin is currently a Clemson commit.
