Northside-Columbus Sweeps Denmark To Claim GHSA 4A State Title, First In Program History
On Tuesday, the Georgia High School Association baseball state championships continued with the Denmark Danes facing the Northside-Columbus Patriots in Class 4A action. The best of three series would see the Patriots falling behind by four but battling back to pick up the 7-6 win and taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
In game two, the Patriots bats continued to stay hot as they took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With sophomore Connor Sizemore on the mound for Northside-Columbus, the Patriots would keep the Danes off the score board through two innings and then add to their lead as they tacked on four more runs in the top of the third inning to take a 6-0 lead.
After another four run inning in the top of the sixth inning, the Patriots would find themselves up 10-0 and go on to pick up the 11-2 win to claim the 2019 GHSA 4A state title. Sizemore would finish the night with seven strikeouts, allowing two runs on five hits through seven innings. Watch game two highlights below now!
