Marist Opens GHSA 1A-5A Girls Lacrosse Playoffs With 15-5 Win Over Union Grove

The opening round of the Georgia High School Association Classes 1A-5A girls lacrosse playoffs got under way on Monday as the Marist War Eagles hosted the Union Grove Wolverines. An early penalty on the War Eagles would set the Wolverines up for a free shot by Josie Peters who would give Union Grove a 1-0 lead.

However, the War Eagles would answer back four straight goals to jump out to a 4-1 lead, quickly putting the Wolverines on their heels and on the back of Kimora Bailey who would score three first half goals and cut the Marist lead down to 6-4, but the War Eagles would once again respond with another run of three straight goals and take a 9-4 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, Bailey would score her fourth goal of the game help the Wolverines cut the Marist lead to 9-5. Despite the efforts of Bailey, the Marist offense would continue to have their way with the Wolverines defense, scoring six unanswered goals to pick up the 15-5 win and advance to the second round of the GHSA 1A-5A girls lacrosse playoffs where they will host Westminster later this week. Both Caroline Shore and Natalie Stafford would each finish with three goals in the War Eagles win. Watch highlights from the game below now!
