Westminster Sweeps Into GHSA 3A Third Round With 8-6, 12-5 Wins Over Greater Atlanta Christian

Two years removed from their last championship, the Westminster Wildcats hosted the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans in second round action of the Georgia High School Association Class 3A baseball state playoffs. Hoping to advance to the third round of the GHSA 3A playoffs and continue their quest to regain the crown for their classification, the Wildcats would find themselves tied up with the Spartans 1-1 after the first inning. However, in the bottom of the third inning, the Westminster bats would catch fire after a Ryan Miller single.

Later in the inning with no outs and bases loaded, Ben Forte would fly out deep to right field allowing a run to score from third. As the inning continued, Jack Polhemus would step to the plate and come up with a big two run double to help lift the Wildcats to a 4-1 lead. Still in the third inning, after taking a 5-1 lead, Westminster's Peter York would step to the plate with one out and bases loaded and a huge three run RBI by York would give the Wildcats an 8-1 lead.

The Spartans would do their best to fight back and manage to cut the Wildcats' lead to 8-6 but Westminster would hold off GAC's final attack and pick up the 8-6 win. Westminster would defeat the Spartans 12-5 in game two, completing the sweep and advancing to the third round of the GHSA 3A state playoffs. Watch game one highlights below now!
