Holy Innocents Explodes For 5 Second Half Goals, Defeats Pace Academy 6-2

Despite the fact that it was a non-region match up, there was still plenty to look forward to in this rivalry girls varsity soccer game between the Holy Innocents Golden Bears and the Pace Academy Knights. While the Golden Bears, were coming off a 2-0 win over Mount Vernon Presbyterian, the Knights were looking to bounce back from their 4-2 loss to Whitefield Academy.

In the first half, the Holy Innocents defense would make an early statement as their pressure would not allow Pace to really set up any type of offense and limiting them to very few shots on goal. On the offensive end for the Golden Bears, they would have several shots on goal and would score early on thanks to a goal by Caroline Belisle off a corner kick to give them a 1-0 lead.

In the early goings of the second half, the Pace offense would manage to generate a goal to tie the game at 1-1 but Holy Innocents would soon answer back with back to back goals by Collette Campbell and Rachel Utz to take a 3-1 lead.

Pace would cut the Golden Bears lead down to one as they trailed 3-2 with just over fifteen minutes remaining in the second half, but Holy Innocents would score three unanswered goals, including Margaret Wilkins first career goal, to win by a final score of 6-2.
