Panthers Fight Off Bulldogs In Langston Hughes 14-8 Win Over Tri Cities

On Monday, the Tri Cities Bulldogs Boys Varsity Baseball team hosted the Langston Hughes Panthers in non-region matchup. With #3 on the mound for the Panthers, it would be the Bulldogs who would strike first when #3 for the Bulldogs would hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the second inning to give Tri Cities a 1-0 lead. In the top of the third inning, the Panthers get some offense of their own going after #6 would get walked and the next batter, #12 would connect on an RBI double and eventually advance to third after the Bulldogs would throw the ball home in an attempt to stop the run from coming in and the game would be tied 1-1.

The next batter, #15 would step to the plate and come up with an RBI double of his own to lift the Panthers 2-1 over the Bulldogs. As the inning continued, Langston Hughes would manage to score four more runs including an RBI triple by #17 with two outs and a runner on second base. The Panthers would go on to take a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the third where the Bulldogs would tack on one more run for themselves but that would be all they would muster up as Langston Hughes lead 6-2 going into the top of the fourth.

The Panthers would only score once in the fourth inning, but so would the Bulldogs as Langston Hughes held a 7-3 going into the top of the fifth inning. With a new pitcher on the mound, Tri Cities would hold Langston Hughes scoreless in the fifth and score two runs of their own to make it a 7-5 game heading into the top of the sixth inning.

The Panthers would go on to score two more runs in the sixth inning and another five in the seventh inning and despite Tri Cities scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh, it would not be enough as Langston Hughes would go on to win by a final score of 14-8.
