Woodward Big Wins In Double Header, 11-1 and 15-5, Over Druid Hills

On Tuesday, the War Eagles of Woodward Academy hosted the the Druid Hills Red Devils in a double header. With #32 Harrison Aiken on the mound to start the game, the Red Devils would go down one, two, three as Aiken would strike out two of three batters with the third flying out. In the bottom of the first, the War Eagles would get things going almost immediately as #17 Darien Wiggins would tag Druid Hill's starting pitcher #21 for a lead off single.

With the next batter, #7 Case Sutherland at the plate, Wiggins would eventually score the War Eagle's first run after stealing second (over throw to first) then third and then home after another over throw to third and Woodward would take a 1-0 lead. With one out and a runner at second, the War Eagles would get a RBI double from #9 Ryan Glass to help lift Woodward 2-0 over Druid Hills. after taking a 3-0 lead midway through the batting order, with bases load and one out, #18 Allen Thompson would hit a sacrifice fly ball bringing in the run from third and Woodward would go up 4-0.

The War Eagles would go on to bat around in the inning and pick up one more run and take a 5-0 lead into the top of the second inning. Aiken would limit the Red Devils to one run over the three innings, while the War Eagles would pick up two more runs of their own in the bottom of the second and another in the bottom of the fourth. With a new pitcher on the mound for Druid Hills in the bottom of the fifth and Woodward leading 9-1, #8 Wesley Maxey would step to the plate with bases loaded and come up with his third hit, a crushing double to deep center field, clearing the bags and bringing the game to an end as Woodward would get the 11-1 win due to run rule. The War Eagles would go on to win game two by a final score of 15-5 over the Red Devils.
