Holloway, Tigers Blank Cardinals As Tucker Beats Jonesboro 11-0
On Monday, the Jonesboro Cardinals hosted the Tucker Tigers in the first Region game for both teams. #19 Logan Richardson would take the mound for the Cardinals in the top of the first inning and looked good as the first two batters for Tucker, #10 Jordan West and #9 Makai Holloway, would both ground out. It would be after Richardson walked the Tiger's #4 Trevon Flowers that Tucker began to lock in on Richardson. With two outs and a runner on first, Tucker's #12 Jaelin Sewell would hit a single but an an error on the throw to first by the Cardinals would advance runners to second and third. That's when Tucker's #17 would connect on an RBI single to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Richardson would match to settle down, getting the Tiger's #15 Earnest Spikes to ground out to third as Tucker would leave two stranded at first and third but would have the 1-0 advantage. Despite the Cardinals putting runners on base in the bottom of the first and both teams having runners in scoring position in the second inning, neither team would score as the Tigers would still hold a 1-0 lead going into the top of the third. In the top of the third inning, the Tigers would open up on Richardson.
With a runner on third, Tucker's Sewell would fly out to left field as the runner would score from third giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Later in the third, with two outs and runners at second and third, Tucker's #1 Louis Davenport would hit a ground rule double out to left field as the ball bounced over the outfield fence and a runners would score giving the Tigers a 4-0 lead.
Later in the third, up 5-0 with runners at first and second and two outs, Tucker's West would tag the Richardson pitch for a single bringing in the runner from third. West would try to advance to second on an over throw to first but would get thrown out to end the inning with the Tiger's leading the Cardinals 6-0. Tucker would go on to tack on two more runs in the top of the fourth inning and three in the top of the fifth to make it an 11-0 game and the final score as the game would be called due to the run rule.
