For teams throughout Georgia, next week's dead period, marks the halfway point of the summer as all team activities will be on pause for a week ahead of the 2026 season, which once returning from the break, teams will be full steam ahead in preparing for.

On Thursday, the Pebblebrook Falcons football team held their first padded camp under Coach Rodney Hackney, who is heading into his second year as the Falcons head coach and his 31st season coaching in total. "We thought we needed something," Hackney said of the Falcons hosting the camp, explaining how the camp served as an opportunity for teams participating to address real game like situations such as overtime.

"I just think it's something you kind of have to put your kids into," Hackney said of the camp's format which gives teams and players the opportunity to display their ability to "make plays" in high pressure moments such as an overtime period. "Otherwise, it's over real quick," Hackney said. Participating teams included, the Stephenson, Mount Zion, Redan, Therrell, and Washington (Atlanta).
