From defending football champs, Milton Eagles to Kell Longhorns softball, teams and storylines to watch for in 2024 season
The 2024-2025 Georgia High School Association season is here as softball and volleyball have officially begun competition and football and cross country set to begin soon. And with the new classification and region alignments, there will be plenty storylines to watch from new region rivalries to defending champions looking to run it, to teams looking to replace standout players. Up first, we take a look into some of the fall sports and teams and storylines you should keep an eye on this season:
Volleyball
1. A New Era – The Walton Raiders Volleyball team will enter the season for the first time since 2006 when Coach Suzanne Fitzgerald took over the program and led them to 10 GHSA state championships, including a four consecutive title run from 2010 to 2013 and then winning five in a row from 2015 to 2019. I total, the Raiders have won 15 state titles and new head coach, Erika Ford, who comes over from the Roswell Hornets will look to keep the Walton tradition of being one of Georgia’s most dominant programs going.
