2-0 Start For The Trojans As Banneker Defeats B.E.S.T. Academy 40-0
Both the B.E.S.T. Academy Eagles and the Banneker Trojans were coming season opener wins, the Eagles 12-8 over KIPP Collegiate while the Trojans knocked off Lovejoy 40-16. On Friday night, the two teams met in the night cap of the Chuck Wiley 99 Ways To Win Classic and the Trojans would go to work early taking a 7-0 lead after scoring on a Kobe Harris rushing touchdown.
On the ensuing possession for the Eagles, the Trojans defense would force a fumble and recover the ball deep inside the Eagles territory and would go on to score after a Nick Williams touchdown pass to Ashaad Baldwin to give the Trojans a 13-0 lead. The Eagles offense would continue to struggle against the Banneker defense as B.E.S.T. quarterback, DA'von White often found himself wrapped up behind the line of scrimmage by the Trojans defense.
Later in the game Banneker's Jasharie Anderson would score back to back touchdowns including 20 yard catch from Williams in which Anderson back peddled under the ball and into the end zone. After taking a 26-0 lead, the Trojans would add two more touchdowns and go on to win by a final score of 40-0. Watch highlights from the game below now!
