Vikings Defense Force Knights Offensive Struggles As Northgate Defeats Grady 19-0 in Preseason Scrim

We got our first taste of Friday night under the lights for the 2018 high school football season as the Grady Knights hosted the Northgate Vikings in a preseason match up. In the early goings of the contest, the Vikings would take a 3-0 lead as neither team was able to drum up much offensive. In the second quarter, the Knights offensive struggles continued as the Vikings forced several turnovers and despite having several of their own, Northgate would manage to take a 13-0 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, Grady's offensive mishaps continued as they turned the ball over several times. Fortunately, for the Knights, the Vikings were not able to capitalize off of the second half turnovers by Grady. Not until late in the third quarter, a fumbled punt snap by the Knights would lead to the Vikings recovering the ball. On the Ensuing possession, the Vikings would add to their lead after a touchdown pass from Isaac Corbitt to Hunter Frederick and Northgate would go up 19-0 and win by that score.

After the game Prep Sports Nation spoke with Northgate head coach, Mike McDonald, who stated that despite his offense not being able to finish a few drives, he still believes that there were a lost of positives for his team to take away from the scrimmage. Watch highlights of the game below now!
