Wright, Woodward War Eagles Move On To GHSA 4A Playoffs 3rd Round With 42-31 Win Over West Laurens

As the second round of the Georgia High School Association football state playoffs got underway on Friday night, the Woodward Academy War Eagles hosted the West Lauren Raiders in Class 4A action.

The War Eagles, led by sophomore quarterback, Mike Wright would jump out to a 28-10 lead in the first half as the West Laurens' office did not get much production from their offense in the first two quarters of play.

In the second half, the War Eagles would add to their lead to go up 35-10 after a quarterback keeper by Wright. The Raiders would manage to score three touchdowns in the second half but their season would come to an end as Wright and the Woodward offense would prove to be too much for the West Laurens' defense as Woodward would pick up the 42-31 win to advance to the third round of the GHSA Football state playoffs where they will host the St. Pius Golden Lions the day after Thanksgiving.
