Walton Raiders Finishes Regular Season 10-0 And Claims GHSA 7A Region 4 Title With 42-37 Win Over Wo

On Friday, the Walton Raiders capped off their regular season with a 42-37 win over the Woodstock Wolverines to improve to 10-0 and win the Georgia High School Association Class 7A Region 4 Championship. The Wolverines would not make things easy for the Raiders as Walton would have to fight to the end to pick up the win.

Trailing 17-14 at the half, the Raiders special teams would come up big forcing a fumble on the third quarter opening kickoff as Walton would recover the ball. The Raiders would then capitalize off the turnover as Dominick Blaylock would scramble on the keeper for the score and the Raiders would take a 21-17 lead.

Woodstock would answer back following an interception thrown by Walton's Austin Kirksey as the Wolverine's Harvey Atsma would return the pick deep into Walton territory. Garrett Bass would later connect with Noah Frith to give the Wolverines a 24-21 lead. The two teams would trade touchdowns throughout the third quarter but things would eventually swing in favor of the Raiders after a failed fourth down conversion by the Wolverines.

Up 35-31 in the forth quarter, Walton too find themselves pinned on a fourth and long but the Raiders would be successful with the fake punt as Stephan Jean Francois would make a first down catch. Later on the drive, Blaylock would once again score on a keeper and give the Raiders a 42-31 lead. Walton would go on to win by a final of 42-37 to win the GHSA 7A Region 4 title and improve to 10-0.
