Record Setting Day On The Track At The MTFXCCGA Invitational
On Saturday, the Minority Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches of Georgia hosted their annual Invitational featuring teams from around Georgia and some of the state’s top runners this season including Hillgrove’s Ryan Davis, who set school records for the second week in a row in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Davis would take the girls 100 meter race in a USA Top 10 time of 11.61, breaking her own school record which she set just a week ago. Davis’ record setting day would also include a 23.70 finish and personal record in the 200 meter dash. The time would also break the Hillgrove record Davis set last week as well.
Alexander’s Eric Singleton, a Georgia Tech football signee, would also leave his mark on the track as he would win the boys 100 meter dash with a new personal record time of 10.35 and the 200 meter dash in a time 23.70, also a new personal record. Both times would be USA Top 10 times. Davis would also help the Hillgrove 4x100 relay team take the event in a time of 46.30, edging out Westlake, who finished in 46.90. Other top performers on the day included Shiloh’s George Benjamin, who would set a new personal record in the boys 110 meter hurdles with a USA Top 10 time of 14.00 and Richmond Hill’s Jolee Mitchell would set a personal record in the girls 1500 meter run with a USA Top 50 time of 5:01.71.
