Raiders Survive Hornets Nest, Walton Defeats Roswell 3-1, Advances To GHSA Volleyball 7A Final Four

On Tuesday, the Georgia High School Association volleyball state playoffs resumed with elite 8 match ups taking place around the state including the Roswell Hornets hosting four time defending state champs, the Walton Raiders. For Roswell, a win would put them one step closer to winning the programs first state title, while a win for Walton would keep their journey for a fifth straight championship, and 15th in program history, going. Walton would come out strong taking the first two sets as the Raiders had great rotation seemingly being everywhere they needed to be to challenge any Roswell volley with success. Both Mary Neal and Lia Ekendahl were the beneficiaries most of the night for Walton thanks to their movement, but in set three, the Raiders would find themselves with their backs against the wall as they trailed most of the set and would eventually drop it, 25-18, their first dropped set against an instate opponent this season. The Raiders would rally back in set four and after trailing early on, would take a 9-8 lead and go on from there to pick up the 25-20 win of the set and 3-1 win in the match. Roswell saw solid performances from the Hailslip twins, Mariah and Makaila. Watch highlights from the match below now!
