Mustangs Out Race Wildcats To State Playoffs, McNair Defeats Dunwoody 19-6

On Wednesday, the McNair Mustangs and Dunwoody Wildcats flag football teams faced off in a key Division 1 one, Area 5 match up as both teams needed to secure a win to advance to the Georgia High School Association flag football state playoffs. The Mustangs would strike first and score early in the first half to take a 6-0 lead, but both defenses would have overall solid performances in the remainder of the half as the score would remain the same at the half. As the second half got underway, the Wildcats would waste no time on their opening drive of the half as quarterback Gracie Puckett scores on a keeper to tie the game 6-6. Both defenses would once again play solid, but with just over a minute to go in the game, the Mustangs would regain the lead after a Kei'Asia Clayton touchdown pass to Semora Lazenby and they would go up 13-6. Following a four and out by the Wildcats, another touchdown by McNair's To'Niyah Butler would help the Mustangs seal the victory and punch their ticket to the playoffs.
