Milton's L.T. Overton To Reclassify To 2022, List Georgia Among His Top Five Choices

Not even 24 hours after the National Signing Day came to an end, one of the nation’s top recruits in the Class of 2023, L.T. Overton, announced that he would be forgoing his senior season and reclassifying as a 2022 prospect with intentions to graduate in May, adding that he will announce where he plans to play collegiately in April. At 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, Overton is listed as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country in the Class of 2023 and has been a prominent and dominating center piece of the Milton Eagles defense.

Overton says he began playing high school football in the eighth grade and says that by getting such an early start at the high school level helped lead to his decision. “Starting to play high school in the eighth grade, I’ve already got that four year experience,” Overton said as a press conference on Thursday morning. Overton added that he believes his decision to make the collegiate jump early will be beneficial for his journey. “I think that will help me along the path, just grinding out in college earlier than expected.

Overton also named his top five college choice which included, Georgia, Oregon, Ohio St., Texas A&M, and Oklahoma and with his final decision to come in April, that gives Kirby Smart and crew just about two months to try and keep the two-time all-state player here in his home state. Although he would be a younger player, Overton would be more than a great addition to the Dawgs defense. This past season, Overton finished with 16.5 tackles for loss in 12 games for the Eagles. He’s also a member of the Milton basketball team and was part of their championship run last season.
