McIntosh Wins 4th Consecutive GHSA Volleyball State Title With 3-1 Over Blessed Trinity
On Saturday, the Georgia High School Association hosted their 2020 volleyball state championship match ups. For the first time, all classification title games were hosted at the Lakepoint Sports Complex in Cartersville, Georgia. From upsets to history making wins, the atmosphere was energetic throughout the day. Winners included Holy Innocents defeating the defending 1A Private champs, Hebron Christian, A/AA Pace Academy winning their fourth straight title after defeating Gordon Lee, Westminster taking the 3A title with a win over Morgan County, Marist winning the 4A title after downing NW Whitfield, Buford defeating Pope for the 6A crown and in the upset of the day, the Alpharetta Raiders knocking off the five time defending champs, the Walton Raiders for the 7A title. In our feature game, the defending 5A champs, the McIntosh Chiefs, faced the 2019 4A state champs, Blessed Trinity Titans. Despite having to battle to win them, the Chiefs would take the first two sets and looked like the would close out the match in set three, however, the Titans would come from behind to take the set 25-23 and force a fourth set. The Titans would once again battle the defending champs down to the end but would come up short as the Chiefs would take the set 25-23 and win the match 3-1. McIntosh's Alexa Markley ended the day with 21 kills. Watch highlights from the match below now!
