Hillgrove. South Forsyth win streaks end with '4 Tha Culture' MLK Classic losses

On Saturday, day one of the annual '4 Tha Culture' MLK Classic, hosted by the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack girls basketball team, kicked off, with teams from throughout Georgia and the southeast on hand to participate, including the Hillgrove Hawks, who took on the Webb Spartans out of Tennessee, and the South Forsyth War Eagles, who took on the Ryle Raiders out of Kentucky.
Featured in the second matchup of the day, Hillgrove found themselves down by six points to Webb by the end of the first quarter as they trailed 13-7, a deficit they would not be able to overcome as they would loss 47-32, bringing their five game win streak to and end and falling to 14-4 on the season.
The third game of the day featured the South Forsyth, Ryle matchup in which after Ryle trailed 3-2 early, they would go on an 9-5 run to take an 11-8 lead and maintain the lead throughout most of the game, leading by as many as 15 points, until the fourth quarter in which South Forsyth trailed 56-49 to start the period.
However a 7-0 run by the War Eagles would help them tie the game at 56 as freshman Carib Morris score nine of her 33 points in the period, however the Raiders would hold on and pull away with the 71-64 win. With the loss, South Forsyth falls to 14-4 on the season and have their win five game win streak come to an end.
