As region races continue in the Georgia High School Association basketball season, the Campbell Spartans returned to action on Tuesday when they hosted rival, the Osborne Cardinals, who looked to end a two game losing streak, while Campbell, coming off their second region loss of the season, also looked to get back in the win column.
With the game underway, the Spartans would trail early as a Jaiden Thomas three-point basket would give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead, but the Spartans would respond with a 14-5 run to close out the quarter with an 14-8 lead. Never trailing again in the game, Campbell would have a similar second quarter performance to the opening period as they outscored Osborne 13-4 to take 27-12 lead into the locker room at half time.
The Cardinals offensive production would improve in the second half of the game, however would still be outscored in the third quarter 18-14 by the Spartans, which would be just enough to help Campbell hold on an later pick up the 52-42 win, led by senior Bryce Clinch with 22 points.
"I feel like if we all play together with team chemistry on one hundred every game and go to practice everyday ready yo work hard, I feel like we'll be good down the stretch," Clinch said as Tuesday's win helped the Spartans improve to 12-5 on the season, 4-2 in the region standings and moving into third place in the region standing due to Pebblebrook's loss to Hillgrove.
"Today was a good win, but we have South Cobb on Friday," Clinch continued as he explained while the Spartans were happy with being able to respond to their loss to McEachern, they must remain focused and begin to prepare for their next region matchup and the remainder of the regular season. "We're just going to play our best," Clinch said
