Ram Tough Defense Helps Grayson Make Statement Win, Defeats Norcross 65-27 For GHSA 7A Final Four Bi
On Wednesday, the number one boys basketball team in Georgia, the Grayson Rams, hosted the Norcross Blue Devils in the Georgia High School Association Class 7A state playoffs elite 8. The Blue Devils would come out and set the tone in the first quarter as JT Thor and company made baskets in the paint difficult for the Rams.
The length of Norcross definitely was a problem early on as the Blue Devils would block several shots by Grayson and would end the opening period with a 10-6 lead. It was obvious though that Grayson Head Coach Geoffrey Pierce knew exactly what adjustments he needed to make as the second quarter would see the Rams spread their zone offense which allowed their perimeter game to be very effective as they began to knock down three point baskets with Quinones Corpman a big contributor in that department.
The success of the outside shooting also allowed Caleb Murphy to find his way down the lane all throughout the second, third and fourth quarters, which the Rams would outscore Norcross in all three significantly to go on to pick up the 65-27 win to advance to the GHSA 7A Final Four.
