Westlake Tops Carver-Columbus To Win Second Consecutive Peach State Classic Tournament
On Monday, the Westlake Lions girls basketball team took on the Carver-Columbus Tigers in the championship of the annual Peach State Classic holiday tournament. In the first quarter, the Tigers would come out aggressive, keeping the contest close and exchanging the lead with Westlake as the opening period would end with Westlake holing onto a 17-16 lead.
However, in the second quarter, the Lions would pick things up on both ends of the court as they would outscore the Tigers 21-7 to take a 38-23 lead into the locker room at the half. Offensive production would come from several players for the Lions, including Raven Johnson who scored her 1,000 career points as a junior., as the Lions would continue to keep momentum in their favor and going on to pick up the 76-41 win.
