Stockbridge Narrowly Escapes With 38-37 Win Over Columbia, Improves To 5-0


On Friday, the Stockbridge Tigers football team hosted the Columbia Eagles in a non conference match up as the Tigers looked to pick up the win and improve to 5-0. As the game got underway, the Tigers opening drive would end in a punt that would pin the Eagles deep in their own territory.

With field position favoring the Tigers, they would take advantage of it and come up with a safety to take a 2-0 lead. Columbia would respond on their second drive of the game as Octavious Griffin would score on a quarterback keeper up the middle and the Eagles would go on to take a 7-2 lead.

As they game progressed, the Tigers would find themselves trailing throughout the contest would would not regain the lead until midway through the fourth quarter when Javon McDonald would score on a keeper and the Tigers would take a 38-37 lead. Columbia would manage to put together a drive that would result in a Griffin to Devin Longstreet touchdown and the Eagles trailing 38-37.

Columbia would go for the two point conversion but would be unsuccessful as Braxton Seward would intercept Griffin's pass and the Tigers would win the game by a final score of 38-37. Watch highlights from the game below now!
