South Paulding Holds Off Douglas County For 27-19 Win, Improves to 2-0 In Region Play
On Friday, the Douglas County Tigers football team hosted the South Paulding Spartans in a match up that had both teams coming in 2-1 overall and 1-0 in region play, so tonight's winner would get a one game edge in the region standings. The Tigers would put on the offensive attack early as they would score on their opening drive thanks to a KJ amor swing pass to Michael Oldfield who would race 65 yards to the endzone for the score, giving the Tigers a 6-0 lead.
On the ensuing possession for the Spartans, Austin Seymour would connect with Miles Campbell for a touchdown and South Paulding would take a 7-6 lead. The two teams would exchange a couple more touchdowns in the first quarter, however the Spartans would find themselves leading 20-13 at the half.
At the start of the third quarter, South Paulding's defense would come up with a huge turnover to help give them more momentum as Michael Young would intercept an Amor pass and return it for a touchdown.Oldfield would score later in the third as Douglas County trailed 27-19 and an attempt to add to their score would come up short as Douglas County would fall to South Paulding with the Spartans improving to 2-0 in region play while the Tigers would drop to 1-1.
