Roswell Downs McEachern 64-53 To Advance To The GHSA 7A Elite 8

On Thursday, the McEachern Indians girls basketball team hosted the Roswell Hornets in a Georgia High School Association Class 7A Sweet 16 match up. The Hornets came out with something to prove and got things going offensively for them early in the contest as they opened with a 5-0 lead.

However, the Indians would eventually crank things up on the offensive themselves with the help of Jillian Smith who would knock down back to back three point baskets and McEachern would trail 7-6. After closing out the first quarter with a 16-10 lead, Roswell would open up their offense in the second quarter and take a 32-23 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the third quarter, the Indians' offense would heat up as they would open the period outscoring Roswell 14-1 to take a 37-33 lead but then the Hornets would go on an 11-1 run of their own to regain the lead and go up 44-38. After regaining the lead, the Hornets would go on to hold off late runs by the Indians and pick up the 64-53 win to advance to the GHSA 7A Elite 8. Watch highlights from the game below now!
