Lions Advance To Peach State Classic Final As Westlake Defeats Douglas County 57-33

The Westlake Lady Lions basketball team has been on a roll since the 2017-2018 season. The defending Georgia High School Association Class 7A state champions have not lost a regular season match up since December 30, 2017. This does not include their post state title match up against Central Valley (Spokane Valley, Washington) in the Geico High School Nationals in which they lost 70-57.

On Friday, the Lions (8-0) looked to continue their current win streak as they took on the Douglas County Tigers (9-3) in the semi finals of the annual Peach State Classic. The Tigers, coming a 2017-2018 season which saw them fall to Harrison in the semi finals of the GHSA 6A playoffs, looked good early on in the first quarter behind Clemson commit, Amari Robinson.

But the Lions had an overall game plan to make Robinson a non-factor to force the rest of the Tigers to have to beat them and the plan worked. As Robinson was unable to get her offensive game going throughout the second, third and fourth quarter and Douglas County was not able to get much production from any of Robinson's teammates as the Lions would go on to win 57-33 and advance to the finals of the Peach State Classic.
