Eagles Soar To Victory As Milton Defeats Lowndes 28-17, Advances To GHSA 7A Championship Game


The Milton Eagles and the Lowndes Vikings took to the field on Friday night in a Georgia High School Association Class 7A semi-final match with a trip to the Mercedes Benz Stadium for the championship game on the line. Was the game got underway, the Eagles would take command early jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Milton's early attack would be lead by Georgia Tech commit Jordan Yates who rushed on a quarterback keeper for the Eagles first score of the game and then connected with Dylan Leonard to give Milton a 14 point advantage. In the second quarter a rushing touchdown by Josh Edwards would help give the Eagles a 21-0 lead, but a 40 yard touchdown run by Travis Tisdale would give Lowndes some momentum going into the locker room at the half as they trailed 21-7.

At the start of the third quarter, the Vikings' Tiberious Drocea would pick off Yates on the Eagles opening drive of the quarter. On the ensuing possession for Lowndes, Gary Osby would bulldoze his way into the endzone and the Vikings would trail 21-14. In the fourth quarter, a field goal by the Vikings would cut the Eagles lead to 21-17.

On their next possession, two big first downs by Milton would eventually set them up in the redzone where Yates would find Holden Shaw for the score and a 28-17 lead for Milton, which would be the final score of the contest. Milton advances to the GHSA 7A Championship game where they will face the Colquitt County Packers. Watch highlights from the game below now!
