Hornets Win Third Straight Region Title As Hapeville Defeats Washington 31-6

In Saturday high school football action, the Hapeville Hornets faced region rival, the Washington Bulldogs and looked to pick up the win and capture their third consecutive Georgia High School Association Class 2A Region 6 title. However, Washington has been quite the surprise team of the region, winners of seven in a row and only one loss in the region.

A win by the Bulldogs would force a three way tie in the region standings so the Hornets knew they had to come out and set the tone early on and they would do so by getting on the score board first after quarterback Jeremy Stephens connected with Jordan Lee for a touchdown giving Hapeville a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Later in the opening quarter, the Hornets would tack on seven more points to go up 14-0 after a rushing touchdown by Marcus Carroll. Washington struggled offensively, not able to get anything going on the ground and quarterback Adrien Williams throwing three interceptions, two in the first half. The Hornets would go on to win by a final of 31-6. Watch highlights from the game below now!
