Dominant Defense Propels Hawks To 4-0 Start As Hillgrove Defeats Etowah 35-3
After winning their first three games, the Hillgrove Hawks returned to action following their bye week as they traveled to face the Etowah Eagles. The Hawks defense would get things going for Hillgrove after Lance Wise would intercept Etowah's Dalton Miller and return it for a touchdown and the Hawks would take a 7-0 lead.
Later in the first, on a first and ten for Hillgrove, Trevor Smith would take Matthew McCravy's hand off 50 yards to the end zone for the score and Hillgrove would take a 14-0 lead and maintain that lead at the half. In the third quarter, a positive drive for the Eagles would result in Etowah settling for a field goal and trailing 14-3.
But Hillgrove's defense would continue to smother the Eagle's offense not giving up anymore points. Meanwhile, the Hillgrove offense would finally get going scoring 21 points in the second half including a McCravy touchdown pass to Trevarus walker following a defensive fumble recovery by the Hawks. Hillgrove would go on to win by a final of 35-3 and improve to 4-0 on the season. Watch highlights from them game below now!
