Luck of the Irish, 4-Star Recruit Osita Ekwonu Commits To Notre Dame

On Thursday afternoon, the Notre Dame Irish landed one of the country's most sought after linebackers, as Providence Day's Osita Ekwonu announced his commitment to the Irish. Michigan, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, and other top programs were all in the hunt to land the 6-foot-2, 220 pound linebacker who finished the 2017 season with 73 tackles. "I am beyond excited to announce that I will continue my academic and athletic at The University of Notre Dame," Ekwonu tweeted on Thursday afternoon. Following his sophomore season, Ekwonu had no scholarship offers but his 2017 summer and fall campaign helped put him on the radar of several of the country's top programs. Ekwonu told 247Sports that he met with Irish head coach Brian Kelly and that after that meeting, he could tell "how much care" Kelly has for his players.
