PSN Spotlight: Maynard Jackson Jaguars Football Spring Preview

After a 2017 campaign which ended with a 9-3 overall record, 6-1 in conference, hosting their first home playoff game in school history which ended with a win over Miller Grove, and a second round playoff loss, the Maynard Jackson Jaguars were ready for their spring practice season to begin.

We got a chance to catch up with the Jaguars and get a glimpse of the team as they prepare for their spring game against cross town rival, the Washington Bulldogs. Following practice, we spoke with Jaguars head coach Eric Williams and asked after last year's winning season, what were some of the teams takeaways and points of focus for the upcoming season.

"Dedication and commitment that our seniors show", stated coach Williams, adding that the Jaguars ability to "establish depth" contributed to the success of the 2017 season and that depth allowed them to stay in games longer and wear teams down in some instances.

We also spoke with several players including conerback Dequanteous Watts who said "making plays and helping the younger players" will be key to the Jaguars improving on last season. Kicker, Jack Breedlove also added that they just need to listen to the coaching staff the way they did last year, have fun and not focus on what they did the previous season.
