Bralin Barton's 3 Interceptions Leads Yellow Jackets Defense As Calhoun Defeats Cedar Grove 14-6

The Georgia High School Association football semi-finals kicked off Friday night, and in Class 3A, the defending 3A State Champions, the Cedar Grove Saints, hosted the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets would strike first taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter after quarterback Gavin Gray would connect with Davis Allen for a touchdown pass.

The score would remain that way throughout the first half as both defenses would play well forcing turnovers for both offenses. In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets would score again this time Gray with a 60 yard touchdown pass to Brannon Spector as Calhoun would take a 14-0 lead. As the Saints looked to put together a scoring drive, Calhoun's Bralin Barton would pick off Cedar Grove's Xavier Daniels for a second time, once in the first quarter.

Cedar Grove would eventually score late in the third quarter but fail to make the extra point and trail 14-6. In the fourth quarter with four minutes to go, the Saints would hope to put together another scoring drive but would fall short as Daniels would be picked off by Barton for a third time and the Yellow Jackets would go to win 14-6 and advance to the GHSA 3A State Title game.
