Trojans Fend Off Late Wildcats Attack As Carrollton Defeats Villa Rica 36-34

On Friday, the Carrollton Trojans hosted rival the Villa Rica Wildcats and it would be Villa Rica scoring first behind a Deshaubte Holloway rushing touchdown as the Wildcats would take a 7-0 first quarter lead, However minutes later Trojans quarterback Mark Wright Jr. would connect with Andy Smith for a touchdown pass and following the completion of the two point conversion, Carrollton would take an 8-7 lead.

After taking a 22-14 lead into the locker room at halftime, the Trojans would come out in the third quarter and add to their lead when Wright would hit Dalton Benefield for a 50 yard touchdown pass and Carrollton would go up 29-14.

But on the ensuing possession, the Wildcats would answer right back on the first play of the drive as Noah Best would find Phillip Zachary wide open and he would take it 80 yards to the house to make it a 29-28 game in favor of the Trojans.

Late in the fourth, the Wildcats would trail 36-28 and on a fourth and goal, Villa Rica's Mecose Todd would rush straight up the gut of the Trojans defense for the score to make it a 36-34 game, Carrollton leading. The Wildcats would then go for the two point conversion in hopes of tying the game but the Trojans defense would deny them entry into the end zone and Carrollton would get the 36-34 win and improve to 6-1.
