Mill Creek Hawks Soar 23-19 Come From Behind Win Over McEachern In Corky Kell


On the final day of the Corky Kell Classic weekend, the Georgia State Stadium was once again the site as high school football classic continued. In the fourth game of the day, it would be the Mill Creek Hawks going head to head with the McEachern Indians and the Indians would make an early statement jumping out to a 13-0 lead courtesy a 44 yard touchdown run by quarterback Malik Evans and then a 30 yard touchdown pass by Evans to Ali Scott just one minute and nine seconds into the first quarter.

As play continued, the Hawks would cut the McEachern lead down to six after Jonathon Gipson would return a punt for 98 yards and the score and Mill Creek trailed McEachern 13-7. Later in the first quarter, Mill Creek would once again be on the drive but quarterback Brady Longnecker would be picked off by McEachern's Jeremiah Fulks.

On the ensuing Indian's possession, McEachern would take a 19-7 lead after Evans would rush once more for a 40 yard touchdown. In the third quarter, Mill Creek would start to get things going making it a 19-14 game in favor of the Indians after Longnecker would connect with Andrew Johns for the touchdown with 6:05 remaining in the period.

Later in the third, the Hawks would a three more points after making good on a field goal and now trail McEachern 19-17. In the fourth quarter, the Indians offense looked to have stalled while Mill Creek's continued to gain momentum scoring once again as Longnecker would hit Cole Wroble for the touchdown giving the Hawks their first lead of the game as they took a 23-19 lead with 5:39 to go in the game. Mill Creek would go on to win by that same score.
