On Wednesday, the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team got a boost in it’s recruiting class when Ohio native Dane Goodwin announced that he would be committing to the Fighting Irish. Goodwin’s announcement is a gut punch to Ohio State as he had previously committed to the Buckeyes but recanted his commitment to them almost a month ago after then Buckeyes head coach Thad Matta was fired. Goodwin, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Upper Arlington High School, is considered a four star recruit and his commitment to the Irish gives Notre Dame three four star recruits in their 2018 recruitment class and drops Ohio state to zero recruits for 2018. Goodwin made his Notre Dame commit announcement Wednesday night via Twitter saying, “thank you to my friends, coaches and family for helping me become the person I am today. I am proud to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame.” Goodwin also thanked Irish coach Mike Brey and the “Notre Dame staff for believing” in his talents.
