Westlake Takes All In Annual Track and Field Showcase


Westlake Girls take first in 4x100

On Saturday, the Westlake High School Track and Field Team hosted their 6th Annual Westlake Lions Showcase which featured 22 teams from around the state of Georgia. You don't often hear the term "home field" advantage when referring about track meets, but in the case of the Lions Showcase, Westlake surely took advantage of running on their home track. On the Girls side, the Lions picked up relay victories in the 4x100 (46.39), 4X200 (1:42.78), 4x400 (3:52.51), and the 4x800 (9:47.24). In individual running events, Westlake's Kennedy Price took the top spot in the 100M in a time of 11.98 while the Lions' Tai Brown won the 800M in a time of 2:25.29.

In Girls individual field events, the Lions' took second place (Daysha Ward - 5'4) and third place (Jada Watson - 5'2) in the high jump and in the triple jump, Arieaunna Terrell took third place with a jump of 33'0.

In Boys events, the Lions would get a first place wins from Rashaad Pollard (10.77) in the 100M and Camron Murray (39.07) in the 300M Hurdles while Tyrique Davis would take second (35.62) in the 300M. Westlake's Boys would also take second place (Marcus Abdul - 2:00.37) and third place (Latif Colquitt - 2:06.63) in the 800M.

In Boys relays, the Lions would take second (41.62) and third (42.57) in the 4x100, third (1:32.89) in the 4x200, and third (3:28.19) in the 4x400. Westlake's Mikael Khaaliq would come in first in the boys shot put with a throw 45'9. The Lions would also take home overall Girls (130), Boys (151), and Team (281) first place trophies at the showcase. Other notable wins were Dundwoody's Max Mowrer taking first (4:46.58) in the Boys 1600M and stockbridge's Darci Khan taking first (14.21) in the Girls 100M Hurdles.
