Morrison, Whilby Reach 1,000 Career Points as McEachern Blows Past Marietta

On Friday, Georgia’s No. 1 ranked McEachern Lady Indians hosted No. 11 Marietta Lady Blue Devils. It would be a slow start to the game as both teams would remain score until McEachern’s #11 Jr. Chanel Wilson (21 pts) would connect on a 3-pt basket with 4:20 in first quarter to score the first points of the game. The Lady Indians would then go up 5-0 after #10 Sr. Quanniecia “Q” Morrison (10 pts) would hit a 2-pt basket to score her 1000 career points at McEachern. Marietta’s #20 Jr. TiSheba Durham would make it 5-2 game in favor of McEachern, however the Lady Indians would find themselves leading 11-4 with 1:38 to go in the first quarter.

The Lady Indians would continue to build their lead as the quarter would come to an end with McEachern holding a 15-4 lead to close out the opening period. As the second quarter would get underway, McEachern would build their lead to 17 after #5 Sr. Lyndsey Whilby (7 pts) drained a 3-pt basket as she joined Morrison in scoring her 1000 career points at McEachern as the Lady Indians would go up 21-4.

As the quarter continued, McEachern would lead Marietta 30-8 with 4:01 to go in the first half as the Lady Indian’s defense caused problems for the Lady Blue Devils. McEachern would continue to dominate Marietta throughout the remainder of the first half and take a 35-16 lead into halftime. With second half under way Indians would strike first to go up 38-16 after Morrison connected on a 3-pt basket. The Lady Indians would then go on a 12-3 run building up to a 50-19 lead with 3:17 remaining in the third quarter which included a few big baskets from Wilson.

The Lady Eagles would not let up as the quarter went on ending the third period with a 60-27 lead over Marietta. Marietta would open 4th quarter with a 8-2 run to cut the McEachern lead down to 62-35 with just under 4:00 to go in the game but despite a few turnovers by McEachern during the fourth quarter, #24 Jr. Victoria Agyin (19 pts) and Wilson would help the Lady Indians close out with 76-40 victory to improve to 16-6 on the season.
