Arabia Mountain Improves to a 6-1 Best Start in School's Young History, 51-18 Win
On Saturday, the Arabia Mountain Rams celebrated the school's homecoming with a region match-up against the Columbia Eagles. The Rams, who started the season 4-0 before falling to East Coweta, were looking to get another win streak going after getting back in the win column when they defeated Miller Grove last Friday. In Saturday's contest the Ram's defense made an early statement returning a fumble and interception for 12 of their 22 first half points. As the first half was winding down, the Rams appeared to be in full control but the Eagles managed to find their way into the end zone after Jr. quaterback #9 Tramaine Callaway connected with So. wide receiver #11 Giovanni Dyer on a 20 yard TD pass making it a 22-12 game with 3:12 left in the half. On their ensuing possession, Arabia Mountain managed to use the final three minutes of the half to make their way to the red zone before So. quarterback #12 Bryson Williams, found Sr. wide receiver #13 Michael Miller in the corner of the end zone for a 10 yard touchdown as the Rams ended the half with a 29-12 lead.
In the second half, Arabia Mountain continued to gain momentum when their special teams returned a muffed punt 60 yards for a touchdown making it a 37-12 game as the Rams were successful on the 2-pt conversion. The Eagles continued to struggle offensively as they were forced to punt once again on their next possession and the Rams took advantage as they added to their lead with another touchdown after Williams found Jr. wide receiver #7 Xavius Mitchell in the back of the end zone putting the Rams up 44-12 with 2:29 left in the 3rd period of the contest.
The Rams would go on to add another touchdown courtesy of a 7-yd rushing TD by Sr. running back #5 Brandon Snowball as Arabia Mountain improves to 6-1 with a 51-18 victory over Columbia. This marks the best start for the Rams football program since the school's opening in 2009. Arabia Mountain will face Chamblee next Friday while Columbia takes on Miller Grove.
