Roswell Cruises Past Lassiter, Remains Unbeaten

Sr. running back #1 Sheldon Evans rushed for 152 yrds and 1 TD

Roswell opened their Region 4 AAAAAAA schedule with a convincing 45-14 win over the Lassiter Trojans Friday Night. On paper, it deemed to be a battle for the ages, with the Undefeated Trojans now (5-1) visiting the undefeated Roswell Hornets, now (6-0). The teams seemed pretty much even, with Lassiter being battle tested early and often, and winning their last 3 games coming from behind in the 2nd half, while Roswell is seemingly winning all of their previous games by a comfortable Margin. The Hornets scored early and they scored often. The Hornet offense drove down the field on the very first possession, and came away with a field goal. The Hornets defense came out with a chip on their shoulder, scoring 2 more points by way of a safety, and jumped out to a 5-0 lead within the first 4 minutes of the game. The Hornets offense had another chance to jump out to a big lead, but stalled on another drive and settled for another field goal, putting their lead up to 8. The Lassiter offense comes out on their 3rd possession and goes 80 yards in one play, when Junior Quarterback Bradley Riopelle (Uncommitted) connects with his Senior Tight End Kyle Syvarth (Uncommitted) on a pass play, running away from the Roswell defense, making the score 8-7. Roswell's offense comes back out and marches right down the field in 5 plays ending in a touchdown.

Sr. quarterback #7 Malik Willis leads Hornets into the redzone

When Senior Quarterback Malik Willis (Virginia Tech commit) plays pitch and catch with his Senior Receiver Kentrell Barber (Uncommitted), connecting on a 20-yard score. Lassiter stalled on their next few drives, putting the ball back into the hands on the Roswell offense, and the game began to get out of reach of the Trojans. The Hornets offense relied on the legs of Senior Running back Sheldon Evans, who had 22 carries for 152 yards and 1 rushing touchdown. The Dual-Threat QB Malik Wills did most of the damage on the night, throwing for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns., while rushing for another 80 yards on 13 carries. His longest completion on the evening for a 69-yard bomb to Senior Wide Receiver Jayden Comma for a touchdown. The Roswell offense did turn the ball over 3 times (all on fumbles), but the Trojan offense could only capitalizes on one those miscues, it came off of a fumble by Roswell running back Sheldon Evans. The Lassiter offense scored on the very next play. Going deep into the playbook, and pulling out a little trickery when QB Bradley Riopelle throws to his Tight End Kyle Sayvarth, and he throws to Senior Wide Receiver Taz Holt (Uncommitted), for an 18-yard touchdown pass. The Trojan offense has a chance to make it a game, late in the 4th quarter, but went 3 and out on 3 different offensive drives, and the Roswell offense took advantage. Scoring 10 points on a 21-yard field goal by Turner Barckhoff and a 5 play 75- yard drive on the legs of the “Big Man” Sophomore Jajuan White, to virtually put the game out of reach. Roswell continues Region 4 AAAAAAA play next Friday night taking on the Walton Raiders, while the Lassiter Trojans battle the Woodstock Wolverines in Region 4 AAAAAAA play.
