Woodland, North Atlanta Battle To Tie In Thanksgiving Invitational
On Tuesday, several wrestling teams from around the metro made their way to Jonesboro high school for the Cardinals’ annual Thanksgiving Invitational. Teams included Woodland (Stockbridge), Mount Zion (Jonesboro), Heritage (Newnan), North Atlanta and host Jonesboro. Woodland would get the day started with a team win over Mount Zion and in their second match of the day, would tie with North Atlanta. The Wolfpack would later go on to defeat Jonesboro following their match up with North Atlanta.
Woodland’s Derrick Winn had a very impressive win over North Atlanta’s Jonathon Barijos as he picked up the win by fall just 1:10 into the first round. Jonesboro’s McKenzie Robinson also had an impressive win as she defeated a male wrestler by fall in one of her 160 weight class match ups. North Atlanta’s Luke Sloan also had a big win as he battled Woodlands Alex Smith in the 195 division. Smith appeared to have Sloan set to take the fall, but Sloan would come up with a reversal and pick up the win by fall himself.
