Three-time defending traditional champions, the Social Circle Redskins, kicked off their new year returning to action on the mat as they partnered with Georgia Grappler to host the annual 'Georgia Grappler Dual's with the Buford Wolves, Troup County Tigers and East Jackson Eagles in attendance to participate in the annual wrestling event.
"This is awesome, I love it, having some of the best teams in the state to come," Social Circle head coach, Randy Prater, said of the talent level on hand during Saturday's event which resulted in the host Redskins, defeating Buford 38-30 in the finals to win the 2026 Georgia Grappler Duals Championship, helping them begin the second half of the season on a positive note.
"Always want to peak at the right time," Prater said as he discussed the importance of Saturday's win being the start of the Redskins efforts to perform their best on the mat here in the second half of the season.
"As a dual meet team, we want to peak as a dual meet team and then as we go into traditional, same thing, we want peak at the right time as well," Prater said of the Redskins working towards "getting better as the season goes" and ending the 2025 season "wrestling your best technique" in hopes of capturing a fourth consecutive state championship.
