Pope Defeats North Paulding 10-6 For First Win, Rigdon Greene Four Goals In the Win

On Tuesday, the Pope Greyhounds boys lacrosse team hosted the North Paulding Wolfpack on the team's senior night and celebrated the night with a 10-6 win over the Wolfpack for their first win of the season after getting off to an 0-2 start. The Hounds looked good early on as they led 7-1 at the half. Pope's Rigdon Greene, Jake Urowsky, and Andrew Crandall each had two goals in the first half, Rigdon would finish with four goals. In the third quarter, the Hounds would go up by as many as seven points before the Wolfpack would finally cut the lead down to four following a Grant Sanders goal with 3:10 to go in the game. North Paulding would get a couple more shots at cutting into the Pope lead even more, but would come up short and eventually fall to the Greyhounds 10-6.

Following the game, Pope head coach Greg Pfaff said that he was proud of how his team played Tuesday night against a "physical" North Paulding team. "We're young and we were trying to do somethings offensively tonight that they were trying to learn. We changed some stuff and just let them play a little bit more and they seemed to get it and work better as a team and we were smarter with the ball," Pfaff said following the game. As far as what Coach Pfaff would like to see from his team as the young season continues, he stated that continuing to be "smart" with the ball and that giving his guys time to play with each other, to gel and learn the "best mix of players to have on the field at one time" will be key for them as they look to improve in areas throughout the season.
