The Langston Hughes Panthers are heading into the 2025 season with their first new head coach since 2019 as Andrico Hines takes over following the departure of Daniel 'Boone' Williams, who is now the head coach at Northside in Warner Robins, Georgia, the return of Hines puts the Panthers in familiar hands as he previously served as the Panthers' offensive coordinator, prior to taking the Berkmar head coach position in 2023.
And while the 2024 runner ups will have to fill the voids left by speedster wide receiver, Maurice Gleaton Jr, quarterback Christian Langford and wide receivers Jabari Jones and Jovanni McGee, the Panthers' offense is in a good space as four representatives of the offense were named to the Georgia High School Football Daily Class 5A preseason all-state team.
The Panthers return of running back Carsyn Baker, who finished his junior campaign with 1,282 rushing yards an 13 touchdowns and add wide receiver, Jamarion McKinney, who totaled 1,163 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns last season, as well as quarterback Darnell Kelly, who threw for 2,521 yards and 28 yards. Joining Baker, McKinney and Kelly on the honors list is offensive lineman, Kelsey Adams, a four-star tackle according to 247Sports Composite.
The new look Panthers will open up their season on August 15 when they take on longtime rival, the Westlake Lions.
